Privacy Policy

HonePrompt ("we", "us", or "our") operates honeprompt.com. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information. By using HonePrompt, you agree to the practices described here.
Information We Collect
We collect minimal information to operate the service:
- Prompts you submit: The text you enter into HonePrompt is sent to our backend to generate an optimized prompt. We do not store your prompts after the request is complete. Nothing is logged or saved.
- Email address (Pro users only): If you subscribe to HonePrompt Pro, your email address is collected by Stripe at checkout and stored in our Redis database solely to verify your Pro subscription status.
- IP address: For free tier users, your IP address is used to enforce the monthly rate limit of 5 hones per month. These are stored in Redis with a 32-day expiry and are not linked to any personal identity.
- Payment information: All payment processing is handled by Stripe. We never see or store your credit card details.
How We Use Your Information
- To generate optimized prompts in response to your requests
- To verify Pro subscription status when you authenticate with your email
- To enforce the free tier monthly usage limit by IP address
- To process payments and manage subscriptions via Stripe
We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating the service.
Data Storage and Retention
- Prompts: Not stored. Processed in memory and discarded immediately after a response is returned.
- IP-based rate limit counters: Stored in Upstash Redis with an automatic 32-day expiry.
- Pro email records: Stored in Upstash Redis indefinitely while your subscription is active. Deleted automatically when you cancel your subscription.
- Payment records: Managed by Stripe according to their data retention policies.
Third-Party Services
HonePrompt uses the following third-party services to operate:
- Anthropic: Your prompts are processed by Anthropic's Claude API to generate optimized output. Anthropic's privacy policy applies to data sent through their API.
- Stripe: Payment processing. Stripe's privacy policy governs all payment data.
- Upstash Redis: Rate limit counters and Pro subscription records are stored here.
- Cloudflare: HonePrompt is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Standard server logs may be retained by Netlify per their policies.
Cookies and Tracking
HonePrompt does not use cookies or third-party tracking scripts. We use a browser-based canvas fingerprint stored in your browser's localStorage to track daily usage on the free tier. This data never leaves your device except as an anonymous session counter.
We do not display ads and do not share any data with advertisers.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Request deletion of your Pro email record from our Redis database at any time
- Cancel your subscription at any time through the payment confirmation email Stripe sends you
- Request information about what data we hold about you

Children's Privacy
HonePrompt is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page when we do. Continued use of HonePrompt after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
